Coming up with Something

So my last post raphsodized a bit about beatuiful spring weather. I must have jinxed myself. Ever since then we’ve had nothing but rainy, dreary, pretend-to-be sunny-for-10-minutes-then-get-nasty-again sort of days. We’ve had one truly sunny day in the last week. It’s starting to affect my mood.

I’ve been meaning to post all week, but every time I think about it, I really can’t think of anything to say. But I’m in a posting mood, so I’m going to come up with something.

Since my pattern release, I’ve been catching up on personal knitting. There was a shawl promised to a sister for *ahem* Christmas. So I’ve been forbidding myself from working on anything else till it’s done. Unfortunately it’s really slow going. Thankfully, all the yarn for my next designs is still on order, so I have a week or so to finish before the urge to knit something else becomes utterly unbearable.

The dust from the debut release has settled nicely, and I’m enjoy the opportunity to design from scratch again. I spent three months on those four patterns, and it really felt like the initial creative work was about 5% of the actual work. So I’m enjoying marinating in the more creative phase right now. I do have a new design sketched out, which I’m actually quite excited about. I managed to get 85% of the rough draft done the other day. I was thrilled that it came together so smoothly. I’m hoping it’ll be one of those perfect knits that is a delight on every row and flies of your needles almost so quickly that you miss it when it’s done. I can’t wait to start.
